The idle spring of the speed controller is too soft or broken, the sensor element of the governor is too worn, the plunger of the fuel injection pump is seriously worn, the temperature is too low, and the cylinder pressure is too low.

Solution: The 4 stroke water cooled diesel generator set has no idle speed during cold start, which is generally normal. In this case, the throttle can be adjusted to operate slightly higher than idle speed, and the idle operation can be resumed after the engine warms up. 

The Causes of High Idle Speed of High Speed Diesel Generator Set

The high idle speed of water cooled diesel engine generator set generally means that when the throttle is raised, the engine speed is still higher than the specified value of idle speed. The reasons for high idle speed of high speed diesel generator set are improper adjustment of throttle control lever, too soft throttle return spring, maladjustment of idle speed limit block or adjusting screw, too hard idle speed spring and too large preload adjustment.

Solution: The high idle speed is one of the most easy problems to check and eliminate. First, check whether the throttle of diesel generator set has returned to the minimum position. If not, check the throttle adjustment and throttle return. Adjust the throttle cable limit screw. If the throttle still fails to return, check whether the throttle return spring is too soft.

The unstable idle speed of diesel generator set is mainly reflected in the fact that when the powerful diesel engine generator set is running at idle speed, its speed is fast or slow, or there is vibration, which makes the car stop when it decelerates sharply or shifts gears. The main reasons for this situation are air in the oil circuit, poor oil supply in the low-pressure oil circuit, improper adjustment of the idle speed stabilization device, poor atomization of the fuel injector and uneven oil supply of the fuel injection pump.

Solution: When the idle speed of the 4 stroke 12 cylinder diesel generator set is unstable, it shall be analyzed and judged according to the service time of generator and the maintenance degree of engine. First of all, it is necessary to check whether the oil supply of the low-pressure oil circuit is smooth, whether the diesel oil filled meets the requirements, and whether the maintenance of the automobile engine is timely. If the diesel generator set has not been maintained for a long time, it should be cleaned and maintained as soon as possible. If the idle speed of the generator is unstable and accompanied by vibration, it is caused by uneven oil supply of the injection pump.
