How does cooling system work on 4 stroke 6cylinder diesel engine?

The diesel generator set is an important part of the data center, which can quickly start power supply in case of power failure. The height, direction, direction and shielding of exhaust port of 4 stroke 6cylinder diesel engine shall be checked repeatedly and determined by considering wind direction, architectural design, layout and distance.

Due to the complexity of the actual engineering environment, it is often impossible to accurately determine whether the air distribution is reasonable in the design scheme. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the outdoor thermal environment by CFD simulation. The following is a case of outdoor heat dissipation of diesel exhaust.

Case description

This case is the level of diesel generator set in the park. The four platforms in the park include 46 diesel generator sets placed on the upper and lower floors, of which 10 sets are placed on the northwest platform and 12 sets are placed on the other three platforms. Parameters of 4stroke electric starting diesel engine are:

Heat dissipation: 1694kw;

Exhaust gas temperature: 484 ℃;

Exhaust gas flow: 513.5m3/min;

Exhaust air volume: 180000m3/h.

Simulation conditions: the 4stroke electric starting diesel engine set is in the open state, the ambient temperature is 30.1 ℃, the wind speed is 2.1m/s and the wind direction is blown into the vertical vent.

In scheme 1, air baffles are set between the horizontal and vertical positions of the diesel generator set and on the top surface of the upper unit. The height of the upper air baffle is 2m.

In scheme 2, L-shaped partition is added at the four corners on the basis of scheme 1. The height of upper windshield is increased to 3m.

In scheme 3, the exhaust and smoke exhaust air pipes are sealed in the air duct and discharged from the air duct upward. The upper height of the air duct is 3m above the diesel generator unit.

simulation analysis

the temperature distribution at the exhaust outlet of the high speed 6cylinder diesel engine in scheme 1 is very uneven and the air distribution disorder has serious influence on each other. The air inlet temperature of the diesel generator set on both sides of each platform is obviously affected by the exhaust air. The air inlet temperature of the diesel generator set on the west side of the downwind is obviously affected by the exhaust air of the diesel generator set on the east side of the upwind.

The high temperature range at the vent of scheme 2 is much narrowed. Because of the increase of the height of the windbreak, the interaction between the upwind and downwind units is much reduced.

The exhaust air of the high speed 6cylinder diesel engine generator set in scheme 3 has been completely closed by the air duct and the temperature at the inlet height has not been affected by the exhaust air. The temperature field of the whole park looks very orderly.

If the exhaust air flow of the diesel generator set around is not directed or the height of the partition baffle is not enough, the inlet air temperature of the high quality 6cylinder diesel engine generator will be greatly increased. In addition, the wind direction and wind speed of outdoor environment are constantly changing throughout the year, so the effect of using partition baffle to guide the exhaust air flow is still uncertain. The way to avoid the above risks is to use air duct. The air duct can make the hot air flow only discharge upward along the vertical direction of the closed duct, not affected by the unsteady wind direction and control the impact on other equipment effectively.
